ISRO’s 101st Launch | Enhancing Earth Observation Capabilities

Launch Overview

India is set to achieve a significant milestone with the 101st mission of its space programme. On 18 May 2025 at 05:59 AM IST, ISRO will launch EOS-09 aboard the PSLV-C61 from the First Launch Pad (FLP) at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, SHAR . The mission will place the Earth Observation Satellite into a Sun Synchronous Polar Orbit (SSPO) .

Launch Vehicle — PSLV-C61

PSLV-C61 marks the 63rd flight of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle and the 27th using the PSLV-XL configuration. This mission continues the PSLV's record of delivering reliable performance across a wide range of payloads and orbits.

Vehicle Specifications:

  • Height: 44.5 meters
  • Lift-off Mass: 321 tonnes
  • Configuration: Four-stage with six solid strap-on boosters

After EOS-09 is deployed, Orbit Change Thrusters (OCT) will be used to reduce the altitude of the PS4 stage, followed by passivation to limit its orbital life — a step aligned with responsible space operations.
