Industry Home / Engage with Us/ Industry
The industry has been the back bone for the Indian space programme since its inception. Indian industry has reached a matured level of self-sufficiency to produce materials, components and sub-systems for both launch vehicle and satellites. Considering the future DOS programmes and advanced space missions in anvil, ISRO always strives to increase the participation of Industry in all the programmes by leveraging their strengths in focus areas of interest.
Industry is usually engaged by ISRO either for sourcing of materials or for joint research and development for the future space programmes. It is always the endeavour of ISRO to build the capacity within the Industry for meeting the demands of Indian space. The matured industry can always raise to the level of partners rather than mere suppliers to be part of the Indian space programme.
TENDERS
The tenders of all ISRO centres spread across the country are managed through a centralised tender management system.
e-procurement : ISRO has implemented the e-procurement platform for sourcing the goods and services. All the approved tenders are released through this platform, as per the DOS purchase procedure. The public tenders are available in the home page of the portal. Capable industry can make use of these opportunities. Interested industry can register in the portal for empanelment to receive the limited tenders from ISRO centres, subject to approval.
Workorder Management: The works related to construction and execution are managed through a different portal. All the tenders are released online for seeking online quotations.

TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER
The Indian space programme has grown from its modest beginning of experimental satellites and launch vehicles to a full-fledged operational programme. ISRO believed in realising major sub-systems of satellites and launch vehicles through Industry. Most of the operational systems have reached a matured stage. Through this journey ISRO has developed various technologies and the technical know-how and know-why is transferred to industry as a buying back arrangements. A few technologies have spin-off / commercial applications. Recognising the potential for space programme to generate multiplier effect in terms of returns to industry and economy at large, Department of Space offers the approved technologies to the industry through NewSpace India Ltd., which is the commercial arm of ISRO.

INDIGENISATION / JOINT TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT
Indian Space Research organisation (ISRO) has achieved a satisfactory level of self-reliance on materials, mechanical, propulsion and structural sub-systems. But the avionics and satellite payloads are still depending on the import sources partially. These technologies constantly undergo improvements at par with the emerging trends in the research and development in the technology domain. The improvements are in materials, processes, manufacturing and electronics.
Interested Industry partners for developing / indigenising any space materials or sub-systems or packages or are encouraged import substitution and to contribute the “Make In India” movement.
ISRO enters into separate MOU / MOAs with the interested industry / academia for such indigenisation efforts. The details of indigenisation efforts may be viewed here
INFRASTRUCTURE UTILISATION
Post reforms, ISRO offers the technical infrastructure to the Non-Government Entities (NGEs) for promoting the space domain. The IN-SPACe is identified as the single window nodal agency for promoting the NGEs.
For more details, industry / start-ups may approach IN-SPACe
COMMERCIAL SPACE ENGAGEMENT
New Space India Ltd (NSIL) offers various commercial services in the space domain. The services include satellite building and sub-systems, Launch vehicle building (PSLV /SSLV), satellite services. Etc. Industry can contact NSIL for any commercial proposals on case to case basis.
Satellite communication services are managed by NSIL through its ISAT/ GSAT satellites for extending multiple applications TV / DTH/ DSNG /VSAT in S, C, Extended C, Ka and Ku bands.

EO DATA PRODUCTS
ISRO has a vibrant Indian Remote Sensing program and launched a series of Indian Remote Sensing Missions (IRS) observing Earth with Optical, microwave and hyper-spectral instruments flown on-board to provide necessary data in various spatial, spectral and temporal resolutions to cater to different user requirements in the country and for global usage. NRSC is the nodal centre for hosting Satellite Data Products generated out of these IRS satellites. Customized value added products are generated based on the requirements from the user for large AOI. NRSC Data archive is extensively utilized for Land use land cover monitoring, Ocean studies, weather applications and Scientific research. The Government agencies, industries and academia can contact NRSC.

Spacecraft AIT(Assembly Integration & Testing) Infrastructure Requirements
ISRO is involved in building various types of satellites ranging from Nano satellites to I4K satellites. Spacecraft Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT) is a complex process which include mechanical and electrical integration aspects of various subsystems of the satellite and needs various infrastructure / facilities to do the same.
U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), the lead centre of ISRO for realization of various types of satellites, from Nano Satellites (< 20kg) to I4K class satellites (~5000kg). These satellite are used in the area of Communication, Navigation, Meteorology, Remote Sensing, Space science and interplanetary explorations. To outsource the activities of Spacecraft AIT at vendor premises, vendor shall have minimum/basic set of infrastructure available at their premises. These infrastructure requirement varies depends on the class and category of the satellite.
This document is a compilation of both mechanical and electrical AIT infrastructure requirements for conducting AIT operations of various types of satellites. The document does not cover satellite test facilities requirement.
This document is neither an Expression of Interest - EoI / RFP or precursor for any future RFPs. This document is just a preliminary infrastructure information / reference document for the potential vendors to plan for establishing infrastructure at their premises, based on present ISRO experience.
