EOS-06 images Cyclone Mandous and detects Algal Bloom Home/EOS-06 Updates

More Details
Cyclone Mandous is imaged by EOS-06. The image of the cyclone (above) is a combination of cloud structure captured by Ocean Colour Monitor (OCM) with wind vector data derived from the Scatterometer.
High winds associated with the cyclone centre could be well-captured due to a unique combination of optical and microwave remote sensing-based data.
OCM onboard EOS-06 has identified algae (coccolithophore) bloom off the coast of Argentina in the South Atlantic Ocean.
Overgrowth of Coccolith formation is potentially harmful. It reduces the alkalinity of seawater and releases CO2 and thus plays an important role in ocean biogeochemistry.
