Valedictory Function of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai Centenary Programme

Dr. Vikram Sarabhai

The birth centenary year of the founding father of Indian Space programme, Dr Vikram Sarabhai was celebrated during 2019-20. Beginning in August 2019, ISRO and Department of Atomic Energy jointly organized the year-long Vikram Sarabhai Centenary Program, wherein several events such as memorial lectures, student competitions, exhibitions, etc. were conducted across the country at more than 106 locations. As part of these celebrations, six numbers of one-of-its-kind Mobile Exhibition Units namely “Space on Wheels”, were realized by ISRO and distributed to six regions of the country. Equipped with audio-visual systems, static scaled models and dynamic dioramas, these units were taken to the remotest parts of the country for public outreach.

The program commenced at Dr Vikram Sarabhai’s birth place, Ahmedabad, on 12th August 2019, wherein Honorable Prime Minister of India addressed the gathering.

The valedictory function is organized on 25th September, 2020 in virtual mode, with address by the Honorable President of India.  The program will be live streamed on ISRO website and official social media platforms.
