The payloads on Chandrayaan-2 orbiter are providing excellent quality of data and it is being analysed by the payload teams. Thematic Lunar science working group members from non-ISRO institutions closely interact with the payload teams regarding their involvement in data analysis and interpretation.
Lunar science meets provide a forum wherein the payload scientists from ISRO/ DOS and the lunar science community in the country openly discuss and outline the ways to enhance the science outcome from Chandrayaan-2 mission.
In this regard, the fourth Lunar science meet and Chandrayaan-2 Data Analysis Workshop was held at Indian Space Science Data Centre (ISSDC), Indian Deep Space Network (IDSN) campus, Byalalu during January 6 – 7, 2020. The science meet was attended by 70 participants, among which 30 are from non-ISRO institutions like IITs, Universities and colleges.
Chandrayaan-2 orbiter payload teams presented the data analysis methodologies for converting raw data to science products. This was followed by extensive interaction with users and hands-on training session using sample data-sets from Chandrayaan-2 orbiter payloads. Computer terminals at ISSDC were provided to the users during hands-on. Experts in the field presented their ideas and suggested new science which could emerge from Chandrayaan-2 data.
