Space Museum opened at Hyderabad with ISRO Collaboration Home / Archives /Space Museum opened
With the collaboration of ISRO, BM Birla Science Centre at Hyderabad opened a Space Science Museum to the public to mark their Golden Jubilee of the Birla Archaeological and Cultural Research Institute (BACRI), the first private space museum in India. The museum was opened on 26.07.2019 by Honourable Governor of Telangana, E.S.L.Narasimhan.
The dignitaries who graced the occasion included Mrs. Nirmala Birla, President of BACRI and Sri. C.K.Birla, Chairman of C.K.Birla Group.
This museum exhibits scale models of Indian Launch vehicles GSLV Mark III, GSLV Mark II and PSLV, Chandrayaan-1, Mars Orbiter spacecraft, APPLE, Aryabhata, Bhaskara, Rohini RS-1 and a model of the International Space Station (ISS). At present, 24 exhibits are on display to encourage young minds to explore Space Science and Technology.
Addressing the gathering, His Excellency Governor of Telangana ESL Narasimhan expressed the view that museums are mirrors of the country’s heritage. Speaking at the occasion Mrs. Nirmala Birla, President, BACRI lauded ISRO and said “the visitors who visit the museum enjoy the experience and will be inspired by newer horizons that ISRO, through space science, is opening for India’.
Senior officials from ISRO’s NRSC also attended the function.
