A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) and Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), Government of Telangana (GoTG) on 11th of April 2025. The MoU was signed by Dr. Prakash Chauhan, Director, NRSC and Shri A V Ranganath, IPS, Commissioner, HYDRAA at NRSC, Balanagar. The MoU will pave way for both the organizations to collaborate and share data, to enhance the disaster management and to protect the water bodies in and around the city of Hyderabad.
The scope of the MoU is to develop a web portal on Bhuvan, integrating past four decades of geospatial databases of Telangana Core Urban Region (TCUR) using both Remote Sensing & GIS technologies and other field-based data. This will enable HYDRAA to make informed decisions on periodic monitoring and protection of the assets of Local Bodies and Government (viz. water resources and public assets like Government lands, parks and other public amenities); besides integration of assets related to disaster management. The MoU will also facilitate imparting of training and capacity building to HYDRAA / GoTG officials for interpretation and analysis of geospatial data to make informed decisions.
