Regional Academic Centre for Space (RAC-S) Inaugurated at NIT Patna Home/ Media/Archives/Regional Academic Centre
The MoU for the sixth Regional Academic Centre for Space in the series was signed by Prof. Pradip Kumar Jain, Director, NIT Patna and Shri N Sudheer Kumar, Director, Capacity Building Programme Office (CBPO), ISRO HQ, on 25th November 2021 at NIT Patna. The Regional Academic Centre for Space is a regional level initiative to pursue advance research in the areas of relevance to the future technological and programmatic requirements of space programme. The other existing Regional Academic Centre for Space for other regions are located at premier institutions like MNIT, Jaipur; NIT Kurukshetra; IIT (BHU ) Varanasi; Gauhati University and NIT K, Surathkal.
While addressing the meeting at the MoU signing ceremony, Director, NIT Patna reiterated the scientific and technological expertise available in the institute especially in the areas of Electronics and communication engineering, chemical engineering, computer science and engineering, control system engineering, electrical engineering, Geotechnical engineering and design Engineering. He informed that the institute has considerably improved the overall NIRF ranking in the year 2021. He urged the faculty to come out with challenging proposals. Shri N Sudheer Kumar, Director, CBPO mentioned about the vast scope available in ISRO in Research and Development domain in the emerging areas of science and technology.
The RAC-S established at NIT Patna will cater to the eastern region covering the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Sikkim and the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
