International Day of Yoga (IDY) was celebrated with great enthusiasm and participation across various Centers, Units, Autonomous Bodies (ABs), and Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) of the Department of Space (DOS) all over India on 21st June 2023.
The employees were encouraged to take part in the IDY activities, which included Yoga Asanas and Pranayama, strictly following the guidelines of the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) as prescribed by the Ministry of Ayush. Yoga instructors guided the participants in these practices to ensure they experienced the holistic benefits of yoga.
At the Department of Space (DOS)/Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) HQ, a special event was organized that focused on the theme of "Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" – the concept that the whole world is one family. Shri Muralidhar Koteshwar, a renowned International Faculty from the Art of Living, delivered a talk on this topic. The event also included meditation and Pranayama sessions, promoting overall well-being.
For the convenience of employees who couldn't attend the IDY event in person, live streaming was arranged, allowing them to participate virtually and experience the benefits of yoga from their workplaces or homes.
The Master Control Facility (MCF) in Hassan conducted a 10-day Yoga Shibir at the Antarikshnagar recreation club (ARC). The event included competitions for Yoga and memory tests, promoting both physical and mental fitness. Additionally, a mass yoga demonstration was organized at the MCF colony to encourage collective participation.
At the Space Applications Centre (SAC) in Ahmedabad, a mass yoga practice was held at the SAC Recreation Club Ground. To ensure a high-quality yoga experience, three professional Yoga Trainers certified by the Gujarat State Yoga Board were invited to guide the session. A dedicated link was provided for registration, and around 550 employees participated in the yoga practice. Inspirational quotes on yoga by the Hon'ble Prime Minister were displayed on SACnet to further inspire and motivate employees.
As part of IDY-2023 celebrations, a lecture on "Yog se Rashtra Unnati" (National Development through Yoga) was organized at SAC. The lecture was delivered by Yogsevak Shri Sheeshpal Rajput, Chairman of the Gujarat State Yoga Board, and was attended by approximately 200 officials of SAC.
In ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC) in Mahendragiri, a 'Yoga Demonstration session' was conducted for all employees to commemorate IDY 2023. Shri S Nagarajan, an experienced Yoga Practitioner from Vethatriya Payilagam, Nagercoil, was engaged as a faculty member for the session. A total of 33 employees participated in the event, which also included the dissemination of the 'Common Yoga Protocol' (CYP) and the 'IDY Handbook' through the IPRC intranet to benefit all employees.

Similar activities and celebrations were organized at other DOS Centers, Units, ABs, and PSEs across the country, spreading awareness about yoga and its numerous healing capabilities on the occasion of IDY 2023. The collective participation and engagement of employees reflect the growing importance of yoga in promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being in the workplace and beyond.
