The Regional Meet on “Leveraging Space Technology Applications for Viksit Bharat 2047” for the states of Gujarat, Daman & Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli was held on 22nd July 2025 at Narmada Hall, Swarnim Sankul, Sachivalaya, Gandhinagar. The event was organized by the Space Applications Centre (SAC), ISRO, Ahmedabad, in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of Gujarat.

This regional meet aimed to consolidate inputs from participating States and Union Territories for the upcoming National Meet 2025. Discussions focused on identifying space infrastructure needs across various sectors and departments, as well as exploring new avenues for space technology applications at the state level.

The event was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendra Bhai Patel.

More than 180 participants, including government officials from Gujarat and the Union Territories, as well as representatives from ISRO, NSIL, IN-SPACe, and non-governmental entities (NGEs), attended the meet. The program began with a traditional prayer and lamp-lighting ceremony led by dignitaries.

Shri Nilesh M. Desai, Director of SAC, delivered the welcome address. He paid tribute to Dr. Vikram Sarabhai for his foundational role in India's space program and highlighted the significance of space technology in driving societal progress. He also spoke about current space-based initiatives underway in Gujarat.

Ms. Mona K. Khandhar, Principal Secretary, DST, Government of Gujarat, delivered the inaugural speech. She emphasized the role of space technology in enhancing governance and proudly announced that Gujarat is the first state in India to adopt a dedicated Space Technology Policy. She also shared plans to establish space-related facilities for NGEs in the Ahmedabad region.

The technical sessions featured expert lectures from ISRO, NSIL, IN-SPACe, and NGEs. Attendees were also shown video presentations on the NISAR Mission and Gujarat's Space Tech Policy.

Shri Shashikant Sharma, Team Lead for Gujarat and the UTs, delivered the concluding remarks, summarizing the key outcomes of the Regional Meet. He extended gratitude to the Government of Gujarat officials and ISRO scientists for their contributions to the successful organization of the event.
